Paul Draper’s note on the back label said this would be “at its best for the next 7-8 years” but I’m afraid he’s sold his wine a bit short. It’s still going strong after 2+ decades. Beautiful Zinfandel-driven blend with supple and ripe black fruit, smoke and vanilla spice

17+ at first I feared fruit gone nose light. After 10 minutes in glass, it expanded, fruit emerged, rich and complex nose. Bout I won't let this 1999 sit much longer

My mom is in town so I figured it was time to open some nice wine. Like others said here, the 1999 takes some time to open up. No fruit at all at first but then you get this beautiful strawberry and licorice and that beautiful aged subtle American Oak spice blend. Great body and deep dark color that doesn't suggest it's age.

So good with age, tannins get round, blackcurrant jam gets evolved tones
