Robert Mondavi Winery
Private Selection Aged in Bourbon Barrels Monterey County Cabernet Sauvignon

I was afraid to try this after the last Robert Mondavi wine I had but this was great! Will definitely buy this again. Very fruit forward with the perfect amount of tannins.

Deep ruby in color. Blackberry, dill, cedar, vanilla, brown sugar on the nose. Cedar, dark fruit and black pepper on the tongue with aggressive chewy tannins that overshadow the wine’s acidity. The finish is warm and black peppery.

Pretty good. Not mind blowing. Medium boldness for a CA Cab. Some peppery/smoky highlights on the balanced palate. Moderate and smooth finish.

Interesting scents of cinammon, raisin, black cherry, and some oakiness (but not too much). Surprised at some of the lower ratings because I feel like this wine is A) good overall and B) a great bargain. I'd get it again.

Sep 4th, 2020Bought on sale, but didn’t think the taste matched the full price. You are paying for the bourbon barrel. You can buy a $15 Zin and achieve the same taste.
