Rudolf Fürst
Tradition Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir)
Couldn't be more different than the Olenink estate OR 2012 PN I opened the other day.
Served w seared wild salmon, whole wheat pasta w chantrelles and persilladé, double delicious sauteed greens w bacon fat, anchovies and garlic.
Pale ruby color. Cola inflected red cherry nose. Skeletal structure, with fresh acids and lighter body. Maybe not the very most compelling , but a very good example, espcially given that i may have held this too long.

Great perfumed nose, reminiscent of Nebbiolo. Fine tannins and sweet fruit.

Jan 17th, 2015Still undergoing fermentation. Disappointing. I've had prior vintages which drank very well.

Jun 19th, 20152012 vintage. I really love Furst. And this wine doesn't disappoint. Oozes minerality. Peppery, spice and sweet red fruits. Smoke and wet earth notes. On the palate there is high acidity, good concentration of ripe raspberry and red plum, medium plus body and medium alcohol. Medium tannins - some subtle grip. The finish is reasonably long. One criticism is that the fruit is sweet rather than savoury.
