Schloss Johannisberg
Gelblack Feinherb Riesling
2018 vintage. More overt oak notes than one normally encounters with the variety, manifesting as blanched almond, birch, and less-than-effusive fruitiness. Lemon, green and golden apple, green grape, chamomile, almond blossom, green plum, mineral. Good length and the faintest whisper of sweetness. True to type and good entry-level introduction to an historic estate.

Mar 17th, 2021Pale straw to clear in color. On the nose a perfume of honey, apricot, nectarine, a burst of slate and touch of petrol. On the palate is a nice bit of acid balanced with a touch of residual sugar. The wine glides through the middle and finishes with green apples, melon and honeysuckle. Quite a lovely wine that isn't too loud, where the low mid and highs are nuanced for your tasting pleasure.
