Sharpham Estate
South Devon Bacchus
Devon, England
My research shows this varietal has German origins, and it shows since it displays hints of a Riesling. Tilts sweet with a nice playful sweetness. Primarily citrus fruits on the front palate, with hints of sherbet on the rear. Nice acidity has served to protect this from decline. Could go another 3 years at a push.

I was knocked off my feet by this English wine, yes ENGLISH, so I declare my bias.
It's a wonderful example produced from 30 + year old vines, in the SW of the country. Very exotic nose with cut flowers, sweet spices citrus fruits. The palette is textured and sits effortlessly. It has a great length and purity of fruit. Finished compact and tilts towards sweetness. Forgive me but I'm not familiar with the varietal in this blend (Bacchus), but it's of German decent.
Tasted at the winery with the assistant winemaker - the British are coming.
