Hans-Bert Espe Und Silke Wolf Baden Spätburgunder

Cool charcoal aromas. Funky and earthy. I'd guess Oregon Pinot blind. Nice finish.

Another delicious Spatburgunder Pinot Noir. Nice balance of herbs and fruit. Maker is new to me and love the label.

Somewhere between Willamette and Carneros. A hair on the sweet side for me.

Mar 15th, 2015SHELTER SPAETBURGUNDER 2011, BADEN GERMANY Yet another take on Pinot Noir with a german name suggesting that the grape was imported from Burgundy few centuries ago. It did indeed adapt wonderfully to the soils and harsh climates of Germany where also Riesling does extremely well. Lovely, bright red fruit, hint of spices, elegant and refreshing, juicy, good length. Refined red berries(raspberries mainly) Good sharpness, lingering finish. The best part is the palate where after notes vanilla on the nose we find dry, fresh, peppery minerality. Versatile wine pairs with pastas like busiate Trapanese , mushrooms appetizer , pork ragout, and even roasted fish .It could benefit from a slight chill even during cold winter nights
