A fave of ours which didn’t quite show at its best tonight. Sweet nose of molasses and coffee, which was consistent on the palate. However, we detected some astringency on the mid-palate which detracted from the overall experience. Also, the palate lacked the weight we like to feel with Napa cabs. Tannins are well integrated, and acidity is restrained. No immediate signs of age, but quaff em if you have em.

09’ Sojourn Proprietary Cuvée. Drinking wonderfully after a 90 minute decanting. Very GOOD surprise. I would absolutely enjoy another bottle.

A rich and complex nose of cassis and toasty oak.
Palette is multi-layered and consistent with the nose. Mid-palette is plush and dense, with rich dark fruits. Tannins are excellent, helping the wine to finish with a lift. 14.9% abv melts away. All in all, an outstanding showing. All the more special, since this cuvée is only produced when the all the components of the blend are aligned.

Again a big and rich wine. For me, it's well rounded fruit without being overly jammy. Darker flavors help balance it out. Really liked it.
