Smells a tiny bit like tamari. Plus fruits. Baked fruits. Flavors have faded a tad, but it’s still a classic and classy Merlot. Zippy with plenty of tannin. Lots of old book vibes. Hint of rye bourbon. This is a nice bottle of hot climate CA red wine.

Label needs work. Not very elegant. Color is nice. Translucent ruby red with a dark maroon-rum rim. Smells earthy with some red currants and basil/sage tone below. Flavor is nice. Bit woodsy, plenty of fruit, some Indian spice/cardamom thing in there. Also herbal. More of the basil, sage as well. Low alcohol at 13%. This is a great, expressive Merlot. Food friendly (I’d say try smoked almonds, salty hard cheeses and salami perhaps. Or maybe red a sauced classic pizza).
