It is Friday night and I wanted to try something a bit different. This is my first and not my last Carmenere. I have heard a lot about the Carmenere grape and was intrigued by it because I heard it had that green bell pepper quality I like so much in the Cabernet Franc. On the nose I am getting sweet dark fruit, blackberry, blueberry, bell pepper, leather and a chocolate note. On palate there are notes of dark cherry, blackberry, the bell pepper I love so much and a green tea leaf component which is nice. This is a medium bodied wine with medium acidity and medium smooth tannins. For the price I could drink this all night long. Not bad for the first go around.
