Tardieu-Laurent
Côte-Rôtie Syrah
Dark purple tawny. Killer nose. Notes of smoked meats, black cherry, white pepper and exotic spices, some anise and some course gravel. Silky in the mouth. Long finish. A poor man’s La La.

Nov 22nd, 2018Dull tawny color. Anything but dull nose. Notes of bright ripe fruit, strawberries, moist black soil, some kirsch and a little black olive. Rich and round in the mouth. Still young. Fruit comes off as a little overripe but paired well with lamb chops.

The nose is gorgeous; burnt ends, toasted herbs de Provence, hardwood smoke, ash, pepper, licorice root, coffee grounds, vanilla, baked plum and dried red fruit. Wood tannins have some firmness, but there’s an acid component balancing it out. Still found this enjoyable though
