Classic tannic grip; inky scarlet with ruby highlights. Leather, cedar and tobacco mingle with an acidic cherry flavor. Beautiful.

Was trying to age this for a few more years as an experiment not because it’s a prized bottle. But my wonderful wife picked a random red (according to her) from our modest wine stock and opened it. So 2019 instead of 2023. Pairs well with the knock-down rough Bruins playoff hockey game on tonight. Spices and dark purple fruit. Plum and peppery smoke. Fast firm tannin that dissipates quickly. Full body and med plus alcohol make this good for those wanting a savory, hearty red that is the opposite of easy drinking but is still very enjoyable.

My first, but not last, aglianico. Recommended by @Byron C Mayes Super wine. It’s so interesting. Almost like grown up grape juice to start. Then it softens into a mixture of classy patchouli cafe (can’t find a better description of the nose). So complex and charcoal-ly. Wonderful.
