Completely insane Brunello. Needed 20 mins to warm up. Mushroom and Camphor-infused sour cherry, beautifully dry and with mineral notes along with cigar box and red flowers. Probably past it’s apogee but f**k is this good.

This is what a really great Sangiovese could be. The nearly perfect combination of fruit (red currant, red cherries and cranberry) mixed with rose petals, underbrush and some (fine) mushroom flavours on the nose. Strong, vibrant, brilliant integrated acidity, tension and a long, long finish. Best red wine I've had in a long time. Still super young with a lot of potential.

Was worried this 97 has past its peak. Maybe it has. Decanted and after an hour it was like a fresh Brunello. Bold with lots of flavor. Cherry with a hint of blackberry, just a touch of the musk of oldness. Great with our ribeye!
