Riserva Bramaterra Nebbiolo Blend

My 2nd bottle of the 2003 and wow this is a stunner. Warmer vintages in cooler wine regions is where it’s at. Glorious nose of mid season cherry, sour cherry and more! Smoke, tar, tobacco, cigar box. Unreal minerality and a distinctive earthiness. Just gorgeous. So expansive and detailed. Palate is so so juicy and fresh with unreal acidity that buffets the incomprehensible juicy cherry and meaty fruit. Getting Gevrey vibes here. Amazing purity and freshness and just super clean. Opulent with so much energy and depth. Really covers the inner mouth with so much sexy fruit. The sexiest one yet but still has the house style. I’ve never had a wine where a warm vintage has elevated it this much. Genius and stunning. Nose starts with some oolong tea now after air. Palate has mid season juicy cherries that are in such abundance. It’s so well made, so balanced and just off the charts pure with velvety and sweet tannins and just such insane fruit capture.

You can smell that vintage. Sunshine in the nose. Deep dark and black cherries along wish some red ones. Ripe but clean and elevated but still dominated by fruit. Waiting for the Nebbiolo to show itself. Seems like it needs mega air. Juicy and rich with lots of clearly defined fruit and good length but not showing the Nebbiolo character or complexity quite yet. The balance is there but the painting is only 1/3rd done. Will be back. Really high quality tannins that are ultra velvety. Finish keeps getting longer. This has 15-20 years ahead of it easy. Now the chestnut is coming through on the nose. Florals and spice not far behind. Great freshness and acidity. Got to 9.3 from 9.1 but this is so fruity and such a baby I’d cellar for a decade. Crazy length. Nose is about the same as yesterday with more Nebbiolo spice and chestnut. Palate is so juicy with dark black cherries and still is primary. This wine has 20 years on it. I’d not open for 5 years. Amazing freshness for an 03.

Sweet and full palate. Really interesting and great value. Structure has softened up, moderate complexity but great character. Decent length. Drink up!
