Rivesaltes Ambré Hors d'Âge 6 Ans Vin Doux Naturel Grenache Blend
At risk of sounding weird, which obvi I’m gonna take because I am weird, this wine feels like an after school snack. So much golden raisins, dried orange peel and graham cracker. In elementary school I always hated golden raisins and got embarrassed in I ended up with raisins of any sort in my lunch because it seemed to scream NERD (and my friend Eliza told me they reminded her of cockroaches). Well F*#k peer pressure to be cool, which includes both snacking on dried fruits and adoring sweet wine. It’s not unctuous but is rich but not cloying. It does have those dried fruit and graham cracker after school notes plus some citrus and mayhaps there’s even a hazelnut and acacia blossom nearby? Pairs with mincemeat pie.

Nov 11th, 2021January Wednesday Wine Committees are always a great as the red wines are required to be 11yrs old, making all of the reds 2008 vintage. 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine were served today, all blind.
Sorry for the generic pic. Missed the bottle pic. Unique...not honeyed. Marzipan, toffee, creme brûlée and a nutty note on the back end and finish. I wasn’t sure what to call it. Good for the price.

Trying to settle a massive seafood feast. Richly sweet, honey, floral, roasted apple, high acid. Also, a pink kite. #OBX2018

Aug 22nd, 2018The wine is made of Grenache Blanc grapes grown in France’s Rivesaltes region of Roussillon, just north of Spain and west of the Balearic Sea. It’s surely sweet, but with the beautiful tart edge that makes dessert wine so approachable and food friendly. Pair with pastries or enjoy on its own as an aperitif or a finale.
The Terrasous Les Vignobles de Constance Vin Doux Naturel is slightly copper-colored and has the aroma of concentrated dried apricot and honey, with a palate to match. There are other notes that come through on the nose, like that of oak spice, so it’s nice and complex. It is a very sweet wine, but not cloyingly so. The mouthfeel is creamy and viscous, as rich as you want dessert to be.

Fun little digestif to go with coconut flan over at Fishtag on the UWS. Almond = yum.
