The Cleaver
California Red Blend
Delicious California blend of Zin, Syrah, and P-Syrah....big tannin, a lot of body...great with my spicy Italian sausage and pasta. Cool label too!

On the palate this wine is jammy and sticky with cherry and blackberry flavors, chocolate and orange candy zest. Soft tannins, bordering on sweet and not overly acidic, the wine finishes medium. Drink now, no aging potential.

Oct 3rd, 2016Dark Ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity on the nose with barnyard, cherries, blackberries, blueberries, oak, currants, licorice, smoke and black pepper.
Full-bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Fruity and jammy on the palate with cherries, currants, blackberries, blueberries, vanilla, licorice, oak, light cloves, green peppers, bitter almonds and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with full tannins, yet round, bitter almonds and tart cherries.
A Nice Red blend, but a little bitter on the finish for me. Simple but drinkable everyday red wine and a little off balance.
Opened up after 30 minutes in a decanter.
High alcohol wine, but it wasn't very noticeable, which surprised me.
14.8% alcohol by volume.

This was a solid, solid bottle. Character goes from fruity to dry on your palate, with layers of complexity. Would buy a case.

Deeply hued and packed with aromas of black cherry, tobacco, and a hint of orange oil, the 2013 The Cleaver is a powerful wine. Dense flavors of blackberry and tobacco leaves dipped in cherry sauce are perfectly integrated in this silky, juicy, and incredibly smooth drinking experience. Vibrant and mouthwatering, the dark fruit flavors linger in the wine’s lengthy finish.
