Fruity nose with plums, cherries, licorice, oak, mint, earth, green herbs, vegetables, green pepper, tobacco leaf, alcohol, burnt rubber and black pepper.
Medium bodied and spicy with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, currants, oak, earth, leather, green pepper, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, bitter vegetables and peppercorn.
Spicy finish with soft round tannins
This is an average red wine from California. Not fully balanced and simple.
Probably not going to last too long anymore, so drink it sooner than later. Enjoyable by itself, but better with food.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

This California Merlot needs an hour to open up and show some tannins. Very hot at the back of the throat which didn't sit well with me.
One more year in the bottle might help with the heat and tannins.

Feb 16th, 2018Smooth. Light pepper melon and a slight tobacco hint. Got Merlot because it's supposed to be a bit fruitier and accessible, this one more peppery but lighter than I would have thought
