Grapes from ungrafted old vine Barossa Shiraz (1912, I think). Densely colored and concentrated, brimming with complex, layered aromas of blackberry, currant, braised meats, dried herbs, and sweet oak...very elegant nose.
On the pallet, generous, giving, pleasantly savory, with fruit, oak, acidity, tannin (dusty) all harmonious and nicely balanced. Still, it's a big wine that betrays the elegance and finesse that the nose initially conveys...but in a good way! I would expect it to soften out on the pallet over the next 5-10 years.
