I think this is my first 2015 Napa Cab but I just couldn’t wait any longer to open one after all the super positive feedback I’ve been hearing about this project involving @Isaac Pirolo and fellow trial attorney and owner, Jason Itkin. This is young but very open for business and boasts loads of intense radiant rich red fruit. The fruit dominates now and it’s delicious but there is still noticeable weight and pliant tannins. Very impressive stuff.

I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked with their 2015 as we were running late to get to our next appointment. I also did not get to write notes on their new 16 Hawk’s Prey.

The 15 is very approachable vs. the 13 & 14. It is less concentrated than the 13 & 14. More fruity. The nose shows more withering florals and red fruits. Dark and slightly baked cherries. Strawberries, black cherries, black raspberries, plum, vanilla, cinnamon, whiffs of clove, leather, limestone minerals, red cola, dry top soil, clay and bright red florals.

The body is full but, less full than the 13 & 14. Tannins softer and more velvety. As well, more bright red fruits. The acidity is also beautiful, it’s elegant and shows more bright red fruit in the finish.

I would have liked to spend a lot more time with their 2015 so I could have written more detailed notes. However, we simply ran out of time.

Photos of; their sloping hillside vineyard, beautiful fruit waiting to be harvested, immaculate stainless steel tank room and a lounge area in their barrel room.

Day 4 in Napa in the books! Running a day behind on notes...Napa time runs slow AND fast!

Compared to the ‘14, more acidity here. It got a touch lighter on the palate with added spice, like rhubarb. I agree with the notes below that this seemed more red fruit dominant at this stage. Cherry cordial, roasted plum, dark cocoa dusted dates. These Theorem wines are wonderful.

We released the 2015 Theorem Vineyards Voir Dire Cabernet Sauvignon today. Family owned, estate Diamond Mountain fruit from blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 1985 and made by Thomas Rivers Brown. This is why you drink Napa Cabernet. Don’t miss it.

And after working harvest this year, I have no qualms with self promotion. You can now buy the wine at theoremvineyards.com/shop

The truth is… the exception proves the rule. The black fruit character of Voir Dire is undeniable. I might even call it the signature. The 2015 Voir Dire, however, adds a shade of red to the black that I have not seen in the preceding three vintages. Blackberry and black raspberry provide the canvas for silky strokes of cherry pipe tobacco, lavender pastille, mocha, baking spice, and Chiles de árbol. The opulence of the fruit is balanced by savory tones of earth, iron, meat, and herbs. The silkiness of the mouthfeel slowly adds texture and chewiness as it builds towards the expansive finish.

The other truth is... writing tasting notes as a group is both hilariously difficult and some of the most fun I’ve had yet. James Cerda and
@Kathleen Ward deserve equal credit/blame.

The other other truth is... Theorem signs my paycheck so I’m not going to score the wine going forward. Closing my business and moving across the country for it should tell you more than my points.

Waited awhile before opening my 2nd bottle, nose is more expressive now, smooth bottle.
No decant time just pop & pour tonight,
I’ll decant the rest tomorrow for the day 2 test
Well its 3am, couldn’t sleep, so had another glass or two🤷🏼‍♂️😬, even better just a few hours later

1 glass tonight then we’ll finish tomorrow,. I think it is going to thicken up & open up on day 2, but it’s already very good. Saving the rest for @Rob Brobst III tomorrow for Monday night Football 🏈 .
Thanks for the Cork Screw
