As usually happens in life we sometimes have great surprises... this guy is a prime example of that..an increadable value coming out of the great down under. Dark plum acetone and spice to the nose. Slightly sweet plum dark fruit followed by licorice spice pepper to the palate. Nice mouthfeel but a bit watery on the back end. Velvety tannins and a med plus finish. A very enjoyable experience at an amazing value.

A surprising delight, especially for such a young wine. The nose takes you all over the place; grape jelly, raisins, currants, blackberry jam lead the fruit parade. More subtle are the notes of black pepper, menthol, hard packed earth, bramble and a hint of oregano. Despite its somewhat sweet nose, the palette delivers a dry, bold experience. Think of a more complex warm climate Zin. Plum, blackberry, vanilla, burnt cedar, black and red licorice and shriveled black currant all put in appearances. As good as it is now I could see this being a wonder 5-10 years down the road. A robust bargain - $15ish - especially for estate grown fruit.
