Visited the Trefethen villa for the fancy tasting. My favorite was the merlot and this gorgeous 12 year old cab from a magnum. They smartly kept the bottles just out of my reach. I may have been tempted to help myself to one more splash.

Aromatics of black fruits and a touch of wood but ultimately pretty muted. Black berry and black currant dipped sweet green tobacco leaf coat the palate along with some cedar. A pretty juicy textbook Cabernet that’s missing just a bit of tension. Delivers for the price.

Very interesting cab. Super complex with high minerality with bitter tobacco flavors. Definitely will try again.
