If you are going to indulge in quality California zin, Turley seems to be the choice. Multiple vineyards, all very old from across the state. Potent berry flavours. Accompanied by rooibos, cinnamon, roasted coffee beans and more. Fresh and very pleasing.

Birthday / Memorial Day party. Massive, sweet, and a bit hot but nit altogether nasty either. Pretty fruit.

New release of Turley’s Old Vines Zin, one of the great bargains in wine in my book. Zinfandel from historic parcels across CA that deserve a single vineyard bottle but are just too small. This year’s opens with a musty, berry nose and a clear ruby color that don’t signal how rich the wine is. Mouth coating, violets, kirsch and pepper — loaded with flavor and a long finish.

Smooth, jammy fruit, not too heavy on the tannins. I’m not much of a red person but loved this one. Would get it again.
