Very surprised when I opened the wine list. My inner geek took over when I saw it was the same wine I consumed last week but a different vintage. A much less open and complex nose than the’11.
In the mouth this wine demonstrated greater freshness than the ‘11. Grapefruit like acidity put the fruit flavors at the forefront. Once again I was a little disappointed with the finish but I think in this case the wine truly needs time to unwind.

To smell the toast on the nose of this wine, it’s hard to believe it saw no oak - this is classic Hunter Semillon, with toast lemon and honey billowing out of the glass. On the palate the toast is a bit tamer, but there is wonderfully refreshing, lemony acidity that gives the wine real appeal. 11% abv, so a great match for spicy foods that don’t play well with high alcohol.

Pale gold; intriguing nose of lime curd, toast, marshmallow, toasted pecan; low alcohol but notable viscosity/weight on palate, moderate but perceived high acid. 10.5%

Toasty marshmallow nose despite never seeing oak!! Very light golden color, toasty flavors continue on the palate combined with 8/10 acid and some kitchen spice. Could have aged longer

Very nice semillon, although fairly pricey.
