Viña González Bastias
Matorral Pais
Best Pais I’ve had, no doubt. Super interesting. Def Chile btw and not from Spain.

Apr 19th, 2019Favorite of the 3. Potpourri, wild berries, crazy herbaceous/tones, and deep range of flavors and textures. Structurally this wine is a beast and reminded me of Amarone. So much alcohol and massive tannins that are just barely held together by acidity. 200 year old vines? Absolutely nuts. Hard to call delicious but so intriguing. These wines hit your tongue and just go every which way possible. They really run a large gambit of fruit, non-fruit, in- and organic earth profiles all at once. Very interesting but hard to wrap your head around them.
