Weingut Josef Leitz
Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling
I didn’t get anything on the nose. Completely closed off and holding back. On the palate a different story. Vibrant, juicy acidity, some apricot and the color is so inviting . This is not classified with the typical German ripeness monikers, but judging by the balanced sweetness and alcohol level I would say it’s an Auslese. German Riesling + age = match made in heaven.

Aug 9th, 2022At first I thought this bottle may have been over the hill. The color has turned to light amber and the nose is a little musky, like wet tennis balls. On the palate a completely different story. Fresh, vibrant, with razor sharp acidity. Fresh fruit, maybe gooseberries. This is not the best Riesling I’ve ever had but boy do I love aged German Riesling. And I’ve never had a mediocre bottle from Leitz.
