When a Cali Syrah clocks in at 12.9%, I get a little nervous that I’m about to drink a statement and not a wine. My nervousness was unfounded. Nose is bright, with sniff-able acids, but lots of other stuff too: green olive, tiny red berries, crushed rock powder, dry-cured salami. Soft and flavorful, the interplay of low-toned savory flavors and zingy acids does a treble/bass thing on the palate. Finish is pretty long. Nice wine!
