Yangarra Estate
McLaren Vale Shiraz
Deep ruby; pronounced intensity aromas of black plum, black cherry, tart blackberry, mushroom, earth, new leather; dry, medium acid, medium ripe round tannins, high alcohol, full body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; medium plus finish, tons of the funky mushroom and leather on finish, acid a bit low, but very good

Mar 28th, 2020Made with 10% whole cluster. Gives the wine a little more structure. Mixed dark berries, violets and a touch of eucalyptus on the nose. Deep vibrate, lush, blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, plum & medium plus tannins. It's has beautiful mouthfeel...round & rich, dark rich earth, dark fresh florals, good acidity, polished finish of warm blue fruits. Photos are of a concrete eggs they are using more & more of for fermentation. They name each one. The other is part of Yangarra's outside seating area.

Feb 16th, 2017Harsh! Strong flavors to start, but ending with typical harsh flavors for a $16 Aussie Shiraz. Bold but not good. Overpriced and overrated.

Jun 10th, 2021Deep red - purple color, medium - heavy body. Nondecriptive nose. Bone dry, red fruit with boysenberry on the fore-palate with an “oh too light” peppery and spicy finish. Tim’s mature and well developed palate observed a hint of vanilla at very end of the finish, however it eluded me. Consistent throughout the bottle. 2014. (@ 18 at the Radisson, Covington KY- iceberg wedge & blue cheese dressing, steaks with Brussels sprouts. Key lime pie for dessert)

Oct 24th, 2020So surprised by this Aussie Shiraz. Nicely balanced and has aged really well.

Cool elevated vineyards NE of McLaren Vale. Subtle variations of sandy terrior and ironstone souls that overlie the ancient North Maslin Sands Geological formation. Cool air flowing down from nearby ranges combine to produce rich Shiraz.
