This is the 2009 Syrah from the Cougar Vineyard in Wahluke Slope.

I was a bit skeptical about this one. It had no sediment and the cork looked like it was brand new, suggesting this was either filtered and re-bottled or else held in stainless steel or InOx tanks until recently bottled. I need not have worried, however. Deep youthful color. Intense nose of inky graphite, cassis, crushed dark stones, and vanilla from barrel aging. Intense clingy flavors. Full bodied and large-framed. With a bit less wood influence this would have been superb.

Beautiful wine - at almost a decade old, this still has vibrant fruit and a complex structure. Primarily ripe raspberries and high-toned cherries, with a food friendly acidity level.

Upon opening, this fills the room with that huge nail polish like concentration of aroma waiting to get out!
Huge black cherry. Dried, and fresh, yet not sweet nose.
Blue raspberry, currant, prune, tart cherry, alpine berries, stone, strong acidity that is tempers by lovely, whispery tannins. Persimmon and blueberry linger for an incredibly long time.
