Occupies a happy middle-ground between Espinaler’s light Christmas spices and Yzaguirre’s heavy sweet Cincona bark. — 2 months ago
Not sure if it was excessive brett, cork taint, or something else, but this wine was seriously flawed. For all Priorat is talked up, I expected better. I am beginning to suspect that the region is a tad overrated compared with Montsant and Empordà. — 4 months ago
Best damned white wine I’ve had in a long time. A good balance of acid, minerality, and fruit with a surprisingly low 12.5% ABV. The vintage I had used differing varietals from those in the closest match I could find here: Mainly Xarel·lo (of Cava fame) with some Malvasia and Garnatxa Blanca. — 2 months ago
Though lacking a bit in aromatics and perhaps a touch on the green side, this is a nevertheless very decent, light, and quaffable red blend from a region that usually skews in the other direction (hot, heavy, and occasionally stinky). Their website says 75% grenache, 25% cab, which is more consistent with what I tasted. — 2 months ago

Melon, green apple, grilled asparagus, and artichoke. Doesn’t sound like an appetizing combination, but it was quite delicious. Served to my lovely wife on her birthday with eggplant Milanese and a salad of white beans, pea greens, arugula, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber. — 4 months ago
¡Que guay! Resplendent in aromas of raspberries, blackberries, and especially plums. Confirms my adoration of the Empordà region and the Garnaxa Negre varietal. Shockingly good for 4.99€. — 2 months ago
Not actively bad, but almost no varietal character at all. — 2 months ago
Pulled this out of my special collection. The cork fell apart, but I managed to get most of it out. I’ve never had a port as smooth. Smells and tastes of a really good British Christmas pudding. Shared with my lovely family and in-laws on one of our last nights in the States before heading back to Catalunya. Seems like it still has most of its character, so I would open 1985 now and not wait any longer. — 3 months ago

Since moving to Barcelona, I’ve been looking for wines that dare to use varietals that are not the same handful of French clones one sees all over the world. I’m also looking for lighter wines, which my wife prefers. This fit the bill perfectly: 100% Mencía @ 13.5% ABV and highly recommended by the botiga in my barri. Delicate and earthy. Hints of ripe plums and peppercorns. — 19 days ago
