Cooked fruit on the nose reminiscent of prune but brighter in palate with some baked cherry, minerality with pleasing acidity and balanced fine tannin. Interesting taste of what I assume was a warm vintage with some age and layered Etna volcano tones. — 5 years ago

Night 2: didn’t love this last night, but the cooked fruit receded and the layered mineral and acid took over which was much more enjoyable, for me.

Absolutely gorgeous Nebbiolo. Perhaps a touch light on fruit and thin through mid body, but carried through the finish by lovely acid and spiced cedar, leather and tobacco notes. — 6 years ago

Decanted for an hour and enjoyed over several hours. Earthy nose with camphor and green fruit. On the palate medium bodied with dense indistinct fruit with subtle cherry, predominant eucalyptus ending with cocoa on the finish. Distinct herbaceous elements that integrate somewhat with air. — 6 years ago

First encounter with Muristellu, a Sardinian red variety believed to be the Spanish variety of Graciano. This version is a lively natural wine imbued with deep purple which fades to ruby reminiscent of Syrah. Lovely nose of earth and tobacco with a touch of reductive herbaceous elements. Explodes on the palate with fresh ripe red fruit, eucalyptus and acid that glides into soft tannin. A touch hot for my taste (@14%), but a lovely pizza night wine. — 5 years ago

Wall of tannin that never completely resided over two days. Eucalyptus on the nose with a faint hint of bright cherry dominated by spice with pleasing acid, begging for food. Finishes off with that coarse tannic grip and metallic overtones. Perhaps this will integrate with a few more years in bottle. — 6 years ago

Wonderful ruby color with bright maraschino cherry. Youthful fruit forward, but with enough restraint and acid to be really enjoyable. Subtle tobacco undertones that may come out in time. — 6 years ago

After a few hours of air, this was ridiculously good. Light cherry, spice, coriander, fennel, acid, balance. Incredible for a ‘mere’ dolcetto — 5 years ago

After a four hour decant, dark fruit emerged with subtle black cherry and raspberry embedded in a luscious forest of herbs, olive, smoke and a touch of meat and spice. Balanced tannin and acid tied it together. Great now with air and should evolve further in time. — 6 years ago

Took a few hours to develop, but showed a beautiful nose of violet, leather and tobacco. Tannic on the finish and lean on fruit with a decent finish, but felt unbalanced. Still enjoyable with dinner. — 6 years ago
