I Custodi
Atneus Etna DOC Nerello Blend
Oldest Nerello that I have tasted. Should have decanted, much more open on the third night. This is a darker, heavier Nerello. ´Even the color is a dark, opaque ruby-brick but it does have a very thin, ruby pink rim.
Fruit is dried black cherry, black plum, blackberry. A little chalky with med+ tannins. I think I would have liked to have drunk this a little younger.

Darker, more intense Nerello. There are some 200 year old vines in this vineyard.

Sep 23rd, 2020Cooked fruit on the nose reminiscent of prune but brighter in palate with some baked cherry, minerality with pleasing acidity and balanced fine tannin. Interesting taste of what I assume was a warm vintage with some age and layered Etna volcano tones.
