First time trying Riesling. Riesling is most famously from the Columbia Valley in the state of Washington. Got notes of lemon after smelling some aromas of floral scents. Could definitely taste the acidity in this one. — 4 days ago
First time trying Chianti. This one specifically was a Chianti Classico riserva. It is a red wine from Italy. It takes a minimum of 24 months of aging with at least 3 months of bottle aging after that. Organoleptic features. Not as dry as I thought it would be. Strong earthy notes which I have experienced for the first time. A lot to taste but easy to enjoy. — 17 days ago
Nice bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. Definitely above average. I used this in my Somm video and spoke about this variety briefly. This one in particular is from Napa Valley in California which is the biggest wine growing region in California. It’s a 2021 so it’s right around the perfect vintage for red wines (4-7 years). Paired this with a steak and some avocado. Was absolutely delicious. The notes were a little more earthy than I was expecting but I liked it. Definitely some blackberry in there too — 4 days ago
Ducado De Hoja Premium Edition Brut - the app couldn’t identify this sparkling wine. I received this bottle after ordering bottomless mimosas at Lemonada on South Beach. Very cool bottle and presentation. However that’s not important. This was a good sparkling wine. Not just because mimosas are delicious though. The wine by itself was emitting aromas of pears and was zesty to taste. The retail price of the bottle is $17. The specific grape varieties used in brut sparkling wines are Chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier. — 4 days ago
2023 Pino Grigio. Got this Buy 1 get one free at Milams for $14. Super cheap and got the job done. Not dry at all and no bite. Notes of light fresh citrus on the nose and smooth to taste. Also got some hints of orange and apple on the tongue and nose. — 20 days ago
This bottle is a perfect example of a mass produced product. This bottle was huge and only $10. I only got it because my grandmother drinks this stuff everyday. It’s a very average Pinot Grigio. It’s not HORRIBLE but it’s not as good as the ones we’ve had in class. It was crisp and refreshing. Balanced acidity. Notes of lemon and lime. Good for quick pasta pairings. Super easy to drink. — 4 days ago
Decoy Pinot Noir - This varietal most famously comes out of the Burgundy region of France. Aromas of cherry/dark cherry. Dry. Decoy also makes a popular Chardonnay. Good pairing with grilled chicken I had for dinner this night. — 4 days ago
Pretty decent Pino Grigio. Got this bottle at Moxies in Brickell when I was out to dinner with friends. It was definitely a little dry. This wine specifically is from the Veneto region of Italy. It has a tangy finish and notes of pears. Everyone seemed to like it. — 4 days ago
This Sauvignon Blanc is from Malborough which is the biggest wine growing region in New Zealand. It’s very light on the nose with a vibrant flavor. Notes of grapefruit and minerals. Very refreshing to drink chilled. Bought at retail for $20 — 21 days ago

This was my holy grail of the semester. Saved the best for last. I bought this bottle of wine for Valentine’s Day dinner at the Biltmore hotel. It was $300. A real Somm came out and explained the wine and everything - just like the assignment. It was a great night (except for my bank account) but it all worked out in the end. This varietal was grown in the Burgundy region of France. 2020 vintage so this red wine was in its prime years. It was amazing. Not too earthy and not too much berry flavor. The notes explode in your mouth and stick there even after you swallow. So smooth. Best bottle of wine I’ve ever had (yet!) — 4 days ago
