Deeper and darker than the other wines on the table, but no hint of overextraction. Slightly smoky/earthy dark fruit flesh out an elegant frame. Plenty of structure to resolve but not austere or forbidding. Good length with savory fruit and earth on the finish. This shows how good ‘08 can be.
Lush, elegant dark berry fruit, with compelling Vosne five-spice and minerality. Maybe not the densest wine, but plenty of fruit, spicy typicite, texture and length. Clearly ‘07s from good producers are in the zone.
Warm, cinnamon spiced blackberry pie. More silky than velvet, but with serious presence and length. Intensity without weight. Real inner sweetness, with a lingering lick of tannins on the finish. Probably needs a couple years to reach apogee, but already a lovely, compelling wine.
Too quote a wise friend about another wine, fantabulous. Deep, dark, rich fruit with lovely velvety texture and spicy mineral accents. This is the black magic that Burgundy weaves so well. Just fantastic wine.
