Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2008
Deeper and darker than the other wines on the table, but no hint of overextraction. Slightly smoky/earthy dark fruit flesh out an elegant frame. Plenty of structure to resolve but not austere or forbidding. Good length with savory fruit and earth on the finish. This shows how good ‘08 can be.

Les Gaudichots Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2007
Lush, elegant dark berry fruit, with compelling Vosne five-spice and minerality. Maybe not the densest wine, but plenty of fruit, spicy typicite, texture and length. Clearly ‘07s from good producers are in the zone.
I was all about this! yeah, its that lighter feminine Burgundy, but with that funk and VR spice that just makes you want to dance, ha!

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2001
Warm, cinnamon spiced blackberry pie. More silky than velvet, but with serious presence and length. Intensity without weight. Real inner sweetness, with a lingering lick of tannins on the finish. Probably needs a couple years to reach apogee, but already a lovely, compelling wine.
