Tannins are nice and hang around. Chocolate in the finish. Jammy plum, back palate spice, fruit punches the nose. Strange blend that works. Probably great with food. — 9 years ago

Unfortunately, this 2002 was either past its prime, or it was not made to cellar this long, as the sweaty horse/barnyard smell and taste has overtaken it. It has the remnants of that taste in this '12. Nice wine, but missing the yumminess. The acidity is sharp, knocking the balance off. The tannins are fairly smooth. The finish is incredible, if only the overall flavors were slightly improved. Does well with strong foods. — 9 years ago

Meaty nose and first bite. Quickly falls off. All the flavor leaves immediately but the loose, gritty tannins stay around for a bit. Missing the yumminess. — 9 years ago
