Château de la Louvière

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

Nice 👍🏼
Dark Web info

Château La Louvière has many fascinating facets. The sumptuous architecture of the château building dates from the late 18th century, but winegrowing here goes back more than 700 years. The first vines were planted circa 1310, although modern winemaking dates from the 17th century and was handed down by able monks from the Carthusian monastery in Bordeaux, who had acquired considerable talent as viticulturists and winemakers. The people who produce the wine in the 21st century have inherited these time-honoured methods, adding just the right amount of innovation and modernity to make the utmost of the outstanding terroir. La Louvière's red wine has a dark colour and an elegant bouquet with delicate hints of oak...

Les Halos de Jupiter

Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2017

A magazine I used to love, one of the early editions I owned from September 2014 pictured above. Found it on an old bookshelf from when I shipped boxes and boxes of books to my parents home. Not sure how Monocle’s doing these days. I do wish I was 23 again, though.

Very pleasant aroma, similar to Vacqueyras appellation reds, but less peppery, more nuanced and smooth fragrances of peaches and rose petals.

Bouquet matches the flavor profile. Absolutely beautiful mouthfeel, silken and luxurious. Berry medley compote, slight black currant spice kick but not too much, vanilla, and essence of mint.

Lovely. Might as well be at a French monastery enjoying a Spring breeze. This would be great with lamb or ripe, creamy cheeses.

Domaine Laroche

Les Blanchots Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2021

‘Les Blanchots’ is a Grand Cru climat in Chablis, situated on a steep, southeast-facing hillside known for its white clay subsoil (after which ‘Les Blanchots’ takes its name) sitting above Kimmeridgian limestone, comprised of clay, chalk and fossilized oyster shells. 🙌🏻

This wine fermented in a combination of French oak barrels (70%) and stainless steel (30%) followed by 16 months aging on the lees in the cellars of a medieval monastery (L’Obédiencerie) acquired by the Laroche family in 1985.

It is medium lemon in appearance with an elegant expression of lemon peel, fresh white peach, apple, honeydew, star fruit, kumquat, white blossom, seashell, crushed stone, wet slate, struck match, toast, cream, and vanilla characteristics.

On the palate, it offers vibrant, racy acidity and a well-balanced structure.

It is superb! 😆😆😆

Monastero Suore Cistercensi

Benedic Red Blend 2019

Unpretentious, easy-drinking blend of Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo by Paolo Bea - benchmark producer of natural wines - and the nuns at the Cistercian monastery in Vitorchiano in Lazio (coenobium is the Latin for monastery). Fermented with wild yeasts. Pale, slightly cloudy cherry color. Red fruit (cherry, strawberry jam) aromas and flavors. Earthy and floral notes and a hint of tobacco and herbs. Fruit-forward, medium bodied, great acidity. Nice rusticity. Very pleasant — 5 years ago

Weingut Hexamer

Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg Spätlese Riesling 2017

Delectable Wine
9.1

As usual, this is the one dry Hexamer wine to perpetuate the tradition of Prädikat, and that is done solely to satisfy the Norwegian importer who takes all of it. (All to one country, yes; but this has become a high-volume cuvée by estate standards.) The fruit comes from the Eisendell as well as from a site known as Grosser Stein for the huge stone that marked the boundary between the holdings of the Rheingrafen (counts) and those of the Disibodenberg monastery. Picked nearly a month earlier than was the highly-impressive 2016, this weighs-in at 11.9% alcohol, and that shows in an attractive sense of levity and spring vis-à-vis Hexamer’s other dry Rieslings of this vintage. Fresh lime, apple, piquant aromas as well as a juicy, crisp-edged and pip-tinged presence on the glossy palate serve for penetrating. Subtly bitter but cooling and stimulating notes of melon rind compound the sense of crunch and piquancy while lovely, bittersweet inner-mouth perfume adds allure. The combination of vivacity and refreshment with floral and mineral intrigue renders the buoyant, bell-clear, seriously-sustained finish next-sip compelling. Abbazia di Novacella (Stiftskellerei Neustift)

Valle Isarco / Eisacktaler Pinot Nero 2021

Abbazia di Novacella – Pinot Nero 2021
Alto Adige DOC – Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview:
From one of Europe’s northernmost vineyards, this Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) reflects the cool-climate precision of Alto Adige. Crafted by Abbazia di Novacella, a historic monastery estate dating back to the 12th century.

Aromas & Flavors:
Fresh red berries lead the way, cranberry, wild strawberry, and a hint of red currant. Subtle herbal notes and a whisper of spice frame the fruit beautifully.

Mouthfeel:
Light-bodied, crisp, and refreshingly acidic, with silky tannins and a clean, vibrant finish. This is a bright, lifted expression of Pinot Nero, leaning on freshness rather than weight.

Food Pairings:
Perfect with grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, or lighter pasta dishes. It also shines alongside charcuterie and alpine cheeses.

Verdict:
A lively, refreshing Pinot Nero that captures Alto Adige’s alpine terroir with finesse. Elegant and approachable, with just enough complexity to keep each sip engaging. Cheers!

🍷 Personal Pick Highlight:
Enjoyable slightly cooled, this Pinot Nero doubles as a versatile red for warmer days, a wonderful alpine expression that drinks beautifully outside the usual Pinot Noir framework.

Schloss Gobelsburg

Tradition Riesling 2013

2013 was a poor year. However this rocks! Very rich.
their Riesling vines are apparently the oldest in Austria - it’s an old monastery. Needs decanting. Don’t drink too cold! In good vintages the tropical aromatics will blow your socks off.
Very honeyed nose and powerful 💪 orange blossoms. In the glass over the top Jasmine Roses 🌹 hint of 🌿 basil at the back palate. This ain’t a Rheingau however for a dry Riesling rich in style it rarely gets better than this drink now.
