Really austere at first. Once it opens up a bit - leather, spice box, herbs, dry flowers, plum. A lot of minerality, fruit is in the background. Good stuff but needs time. — 6 years ago
Bloody nose iron ore. Vivacious with mouth drying minerality; reminds a little of volcanic island wine. — 8 years ago

First time w Sousón. I can see, first impression, why it was/is a favored grape for Port. Gives the impression of rich impregnability, but…this wine is paradoxical, lots of inner mouth energy with a distinctive graphite streak down the middle of your tongue and gum licking tannins,,yet lithe, never heavy. 13°. Plums, chocolate, dark fruits, soil.
Not the most expressive nose, but we consumed this within 3 hrs of opening.
Maybe a slosh/ decant would bring forth?
However, it once again confirms that Spain is producing a huge array of quality Tinto & Blanco.
