Superiore. A little farmy, good Barbera acids, some graphite, stewed cherries. From Prospect Wines. 11/13/2023 — 3 years ago
I’ve been enjoying opening young inexpensive Nebbiolo the last week. It’s a fun contrast to the aged Nebbiolo I have that seems to be in a slump. Tannic but also cherry and energy. After a few days it tastes aged, with tobacco and spice predominating, but alas the tannin did not recede. — 6 years ago
Oct 2025: PnP, very good nose, palate, balance, a good Monforte Barolo, at peak — 9 months ago
Both you and Liz liked this one quite a bit. Some strawberry and rhubarb she says. I like that it has some weight. Would def buy it again. — 6 years ago
Crisp - a tinnnny bit fruit forward but good. Served at the right temperature, it’d be good. — 7 years ago
Expression of Elegance. 2914 was tough and he reduced quality for better maturation. Kept smaller grapes with less leaves. Paolo said this is the most elegant wine he ever made. 😍 — 8 years ago
I’ve never had Rossese Bianco and as a fan of Rossese (red), it’s exciting to try this (from Piemonte, surprisingly). Nose is quite herbal with a little note of raw almond. Slight note of stone fruit pits. Crisp and cleansing and refreshing in the mouth (as are many of its red siblings). Nice intensity and balance. This would be a very nice summer antipasto accompaniment. Thanks to my brother Angelo for spying and snagging this for me! — 8 months ago
Tannic but not too much, fruit but not overly ripe, distinct dried flower notes. Ah, tradition. Really good old school barolo. — 3 years ago
Last bottle from WTSO or Cinderella, cherry cinnamon on nose, cherry earthy mild tannins that lead to bigger mouth feel then body supports. Good length.tannins persist with lingering tobacco. Nice — 6 years ago
A bit rough when just opened, but after about an hour of breathing, it opens up beautifully. — 8 years ago
Love it. It's special every time I sip it — 8 years ago

Opened about two hours prior to service and allowed to Audouze. The 1996 La Gramolere Riserva pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with classic notes of Morello cherry, raspberry, truffle, dried roses, tar, leather, dried herbs and dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose the finish is long; powerful and beautiful. Still fresh, this is a fabulously delicious Riserva by an underrated producer. Drink now with a little patience and through 2046. — 2 months ago
