The funkiest wine in the lineup, En Moviment 2 is made with Macabeu (aka Viura in Rioja), a sometimes neglected variety known for its high yields - especially in young vines- and relatively neutral flavor profile. One of the 3 main varieties in cava, it is often reserved for blends. This Macabeu is however sourced from old, low yielding vines planted in the 1940s on a small, terraced plot in Comes d’en Bonet, northeast of Gandesa. Fermented in stainless steel with 4 months of skin maceration (a traditional brisat, unfiltered skin contact). Medium copper hued. Fragrant. Aromas of citrus (tangerine, orange rind) and dry herbs. Quite fresh, good acidity, some spicy notes. Saline, with a nice slightly bitter finish — 4 years ago

Opaque ruby color. Sumptuous nose of abundant forrest and wild berries, eucalyptus, and dark cherries. Very polished wine upon entrance, with beautiful development in mouth, great grip, terrific acidity, beautiful dark cherry flavors, solid structure and long finish. Very food worthy. 90 pts — 11 years ago

The first of the range’s four single-vineyard wines, the En Moviment 1 is a complex orange wine made with old vine Garnatxa blanca from a very small plot in the Comes d’en Bonet, to the northeast of Gandesa. Fermented with wild yeasts with 28 days on its skins and partially under flor, it is an authentic example of Brisat wine, a traditional style of skin-contact wines from the Terra Alta and Spain’s Mediterranean coast. Akin to the amber wines of Northeastern Italy and Slovenia and known for its extended macerations, the style fell out of grace during the past century as consumers demanded lighter, but is now making a comeback thanks in no small part to the efforts of winemakers like Pili Sanmartín. Fruit-forward. Very expressive nose of peach, apricot, orange, notes of dry herbs and sweet spices (cinnamon). Quite dry, with fine-grained tannins and a full palate. Slightly bitter finish. — 4 years ago
