Texas Grown Texas High Plains Petit Verdot 2019

Deep ruby in color; black cherries, tabacco, and blackberries on the nose; medium acidity; medium tannins; tastes like violets, plums, and dried herbs with a long finish. Nellie says it's ok, but I love it. — 2 years ago

Bingham Family Vineyards Trebbiano 2019

This is a very pale Texas wine with a very citric nose. Lemon leads the way, but there is lime and orange peel in play, too. A hint of lemon chess pie floats through the minerality along with an herbal note. The palate shows apricot and nectarine flavors filtering through the spicy greenness of the herbaceous essence of the wine. The acidity is zippy, but not overly so. Pairing this with a cool, green salad this summer is a no-brainer. — 4 years ago

Reserve Bingham Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

Tastes way younger than 16 years from the vintage. Quite dark and extracted flavor that kept opening up. Has many years of life left. A complement to the entire evening. Top flight Napa Cabernet. — 7 years ago

Oh my gosh I absolutely love this. I'm not usually a huge fan of Texas wines, but this one hit it out of the park. What an incredible mix of Farmhouse-y funk and berries. — 8 years ago

Bingham Family Vineyards Texas Trio Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon Tempranillo

Really tasty. It's Texas wine--mix of Tempranillo, Cabernet and Merlot. Light, light light with a touch of sweetness. Good blend for a summer evening. — 9 years ago

Lost Oak Winery is about 25mins south of me. Their Double Diamond Merlot is the wine I feel like they do best for the price. Haven't had this

This one is simple and pleasing. It doesn't have the heft you might expect with Cabernet and merlot.

Deep purple in color; violets, plums, lilac (I think), and a little vanilla on the nose; medium acidity, high tannins; tastes like crushed gravel, flowers, and black cherries with a medium finish. I love it. Nellie likes it too. — 3 years ago

Mourvèdre 2018

This red was tanic right after opening but much better the second day. Then it was a full bodied slightly sweet and fruity red instead of a heavy and acidic steak wine, which it tasted the first day. — 5 years ago

My journey with TX wines continues...

YES! This is a killer effort of a Spanish varietal that is doing great here in TX! Many Spanish reds do well here, so I shouldn’t be surprised in regards to white varietals. I was skeptical at first as it was too cold...seemed like a run of the mill SauvBlanc, but this was wonderful once it warmed closer to room temp. Nose had a lot of melon, watermelon rind, honeydew, white flowers. Really nice texture from start to finish. Palate has more melon fruits, even some banana, and honeyed walnuts. Nice acidity...crisp, but not sharp. One of the best TX whites I’ve had. Very nicely done
@Ron Yates ! Looks like @Shawn R and I scored this the same!

Twin Tempranillo 2014

VERY interested to try this wine as I just bought a 3-pack a little while back. This Randy Hester wine is doing GREAT things. 100% Texas Tempranillo sourced from Tx High Plains (Bingham and Farmhouse Vineyards both claim source). The sharp bite that seems to be present in a lot of Texas Temps. Not sure if it's the soil that adds this note or what, but I believe it is because it is not there in a lot of hill country AVA fruit. Either way, this tempranillo did not have that tart bite on the front. Lovely expressive tempranillo perfume came rolling out of the glass. I do know that Texas temp really does like to sit, and this one is a baby. The thing I noted most about this wine was its structure. This. Will. Age. Well. It just needs a little more time for integration. This solidified my happiness of a 3-pack purchase, and glad I was able to get a sneak peak. Really neat project wine by Randy Hester.
