This is a very pretty wine. Light color, but so fragrant, with sappy cherry/kirsch and a little raspberry, plus a highly-saline crushed stone minerality and a musky floral note. Flavorful but light-footed in the mouth. Crisp acids and little chalky tannin keep things together. Great with take-out Chinese food tonight! — 10 months ago

The bottle was opened about three hours prior to dinner, splash decanted and then returned to the bottle. Pours a bright ruby color. On the nose, red cherry and strawberry fruits; comes across a bit alpine? Minerals and other light herbs somewhat nod the mountains...which I guess makes some sense considering the location of Besson Vineyard (the source of the fruit, just outside of the Santa Cruz AVA). This is a Grenache endowed with undeniable structure. The acid is obvious immediately however, it takes a few hours for the tannin monster to show up. This would benefit from a handful of years on the cellar. The Besson Vineyard was planted in 1910. The folks at Birichino Winery were willing to share 1.5 tons of their fruit. 3.5 barrels produced. — 4 years ago
It has a beautiful nose of plum and spices, on the palate it’s balanced, with soft tannins. Medium long finish. A truly lovely wine. — 9 months ago
Nice wine. Excellent pairing with the Mississippi pot roast po’ boys I made. — 3 years ago
Excited for these wines. A 6 pack of old vine wines arrived from Birichino. This is a great start. Always looking for something different and this doesn’t disappoint. Rustic, funky, but still light. 9.1 — 3 years ago
