Jen Mar Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Revisiting this burly beast almost a year later and it’s still as it was before: terrific. Impenetrable dark crimson with a little more bricking going on. Vanilla, lavender, a good bit of oak, and blueberries on the nose. At almost eleven years old, this doesn’t remind me so much of a standard Napa Can but rather a nice Bordeaux. The heat from the alcohol has definitely settled down and is presenting some wonderful balance. There’s still some fruit here with layers of blueberries, cherries, and cranberries. Tobacco, coffee, and leather on the palate. This is a wine that’s absolutely singing right now. All hail to Last Bottle. Just like I said a year ago, powerful, ripe fruit, and great structure. — 6 years ago

reserve Blend Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Color of black tea. Nose of apple, oil, paint, crayon, lemon tea, and minty. Taste is spicy, yet quite sweet from caramel, and grapefruit zest. Quite smooth. Overall, combination of simple yet delightful flavors (spice and sweetness, bittersweet zest), not too complex but straightforward, and easy to enjoy. — 6 years ago

471 Small Batch India Pale Ale

Nor as good as the Lagunitas, by a long shot. Although good, and definitely has thicker malt and body, this wine seems to have a little more of that whiskey barrel influence which short of conflicts with the Hop a little bit. Definitely better with a little bit of food. I honestly think I prefer their regular 471 to this one. — 6 years ago
