This is banger of a Rosso di Montalcino! Huge nose on opening with dark fruit - primarily dark fruit and wet moss. Palate is bold and surprisingly full bodied with lots of layers - primarily fruit forward with dark cherry, moss, soft spices leaning towards cinnamon - overall more juicy acidity until late when a long smooth tannic finish emerges and lingers pleasurably. Classically built-up, but this version also include an expansive mid-palate, bursting with ripe, red berries, fresh sage and roasted herbs. Excellent, strict and precise finish, where tannins take centre stage, without loosing its pur fruit. Delicious. — 10 years ago
