Fantastic! Cloudy rich golden hue, mildly sweet but the main palette presence is honeysuckle and lime. — 5 years ago
Winemaking posts at Rudd, Dominus, Chalk Hill & Matanzas Creek, David Ramey & his wife, Carla began their own label in 1996. Rich deep ruby red. Aromas of powerful dark fruit, hints of pepper and sweet spice reminiscent of a Northern Rhône. On the palate raspberry and blackberry, soft and velvety, with smoky oak, big spice on the finish which should continue to develop for several years. Very Nice! — 6 years ago
What a wonderful wine. Dark ink. David said he noticed a little brown edge on it. It has aged magnificently. Much fruit left after nearly 20 years. Good acidity and tannin. Still at or close to its peak. A privilege. — a year ago
I’ve waited years to open this. It was well worth the wait. Rich with fruity black cherry, currants, plum and smokey oak, coffee and chocolates. In addition, there is a lovely hint of citrus (perhaps, a sweet residue of liqueur from the French Oak barrels). Perfect celebration in a time of uncertainty.

Surprisingly, this one was not as big as the Futo. I am a big fan of anything from Prichard Hill and was intrigued seeing this one on the list. Gave it an hour to open up and had a fantastic ribeye to pair it with! In retrospect, I think I would have flipped the sequence. (All bullshit aside on sequencing, this is still an amazing wine and I am just being anal).. The color was still a nice deep violet with strong dark fruits. Great pedigree with Helen Turley on the planting and David Abreu on the vineyard management. What could ever go wrong? — 5 years ago
Pale ruby. Red tart cherry herbs rose petal smells alcohol red plum rosemary dried lavender dried herbs high acidity high fine-grained young tannins iron. It's a lovely expression of Nebbiolo grown on the Pritchard Hill. Quite some heat though at 14.7% abv.
David Arthur moved back here (Pritchard Hill) in 1978-1979, interned at Chappellet Joseph Phelps Schramsberg, cleared the land in 78-79 and planted in late 80s. First vintage 1985, 37 vintages since except for 2021 smoke taint. Organic since 1996.
Liquid Organic fertilizer: water and fertilizer with the drip system. 2nd hand / neutral French oak.
