The winner as the Downs Club Club Red from 46 entries. My highest pointed was Tahbilk One Million Cuttings at 91 points but Democracy prevails. — 8 years ago
Excellent vintage of the L’Ermitage. All previous vintages rated 92 points and higher and this one doesn’t disappoint. Minerals, crisp acidity and constrained layers of fruit and white flowers. Extra tasty today as the epitome of American Greatness has been voted out of office. 🇺🇸 🍾 🍾🍾 🇺🇸Cheers to American democracy! — 4 years ago
The winner of the Downs Club Premium Red taste off from 41 masked Reds. Not my final choice but democracy prevailed by 4 votes to 3. This was in my final 3. A nice balance of sweet red fruits with some spice and hint of pepper. Balanced and smooth. Will cellar up to 10 years but overall a little too sweet for my palate. One of my faves. Smooth. Perfect. — 9 years ago
Choosing the next Downs Club White wine from 44 masked entries. Great balance between fruit and oak - the former in the peaches/stone fruit style. Very balanced. Amazing QPR selling for $15 on the Elderton web site with a LUC to the Club at under $10. My choice on the night but sadly democracy prevailed and another wine got the nod. — 6 years ago

Vibrant, spicy wine ... didn’t really help settle down our nerves, emotions, shock and anger witnessing today’s horrific attack on our institution that assures freedom and equality for all, founded on the principles of democracy, integrity and truth. Sad, sad day 😢 — 4 years ago
