Super balanced, nice earthy finish. — 3 months ago
Nine year old right bank Bordeaux. Smooth, balanced supported by earthy forest floor notes. Nice complexity. — 3 months ago
Wonderful. This agile, powerful ballerina dancing down the old granite stair case in the castle. — 4 months ago
Well balanced with endless layers of dark, dry fruit, Cuban cigar, cider, and clove. A fifteen year old Cab driven blend will great vibrancy and intensity. Vergelegen is a beautiful wine estate/farm in South Africa, between Stellenbosch and Somerset. You can tour the hundreds of acres Estate in a landrover like a safari. Fantastic visit!! Talking about visits…we, Spoken Wines, are packing our bags again and start another journey finding wine diamonds in the rough and tell their stories. Not in South Africa this time, but Argentina and Chile! Find us on Instagram to follow our journey. Question: any recommendations for Chile wineries to visit?? We will be in the Aconcagua Valley north of Santiago and in the Rapel Valley south of Santiago. I am not very familiar with Chile and would love to get some recommendations to reach out to. 🙏🙏 — 2 months ago
Okay. Again the same dilemma. If a wine does not meet expectation is it basically bad (for me)? 🤔 because in life everything is relative, right? Any thoughts on puzzling matter??The wine was well balanced, dark red fruit flavors, polished, smooth tannins, good intensity and concentration, but limited length and lacking any meaningful complexity… Eight year old left bank Bordeaux. A fourth or fifth growth winery, maybe not, can’t remember for sure. Do remember what I paid though, $120. Definitely too much for what we experienced this evening…. as to our expectations. — 3 months ago
We had the pleasure of drinking a 14 year old Rioja. Very old world as it was narrow on the palette with dark cherry, oak, vanilla all very well integrated and balanced. Good length on the finish, present. All aground a wonderful experience. — 4 months ago
A Malbec Cab blend from Mendoza produced by the partnership of Nicolas Catena and Barons de Rothschild. It was a rich, fruit expressive wine. Fairly strong aging notes already but very pleasant to drink. We really enjoyed! Spoken Wines will be visiting the region in October and November. Nice subtle Pinot. A bit over weight of red fruit with a lactic acid undernote that throws the wine a little of balance. Smooth finish. — 3 months ago
If a wine does not meet your (high) expectations, is it a disappointment?? 🤔. Yeah, everything is relative. This six year old Gran Malbec was still super tight. Sharp, spicy oak tannins (lots of new French oak?) kept anything possibly underneath totally hidden. Although some greener notes came through early on and again later after about 2-3 hours of opening. So, yeah. Not balanced, very intense, limited lingering and single note. Agung will help for sure but not confident if this wine will ever fully shine. But don’t be down on Pulenta. Fantastic winery. We will visit this fall (their Spring) as Spoken Wines. Talking about Spoken Wines, have you seen our latest video story of Hartenberg?? And their incredible commitment to regenerative viticulture, lead by… cows!! Beautifully explained and demonstrated right in front of you by Wilhelm Joubert, the viticulturist. Check it out. And don’t miss the surprise at the end 😁. www.spokenwines.com — 3 months ago

Have you ever tried an orange wine? Do you like them? Yes, no? Try this one. Absolutely unbelievable. The perfume coming of this wine made by Casa de Uco knocks you off your socks: unmistakeable jasmine, tangerine and violets. So intense and you find it all back in the flavor. Most balanced, flavorful, edgy but soothing orange wine on the finish I have ever tasted. Addict-able good, rushing to the next sip. Seriously, try it. Never experienced a wine like this. Cheers from Uco Valley — a month ago
