Enjoyed this the other night albeit several bottles in, showed nice red fruits and light tannins. Please note the notes I am sure are off since like I said there were many bottles of various wine enjoyed that night. This one I must say held its own against some heavy weights that night. I will revisit with better notes I am sure when I can give this nice bottle a little more due diligence. — 8 years ago
Wonderful finish great balance still holding up — 10 years ago
Great wine, the best winery I have been to and I would say would be one of the best in the nation. All the wines were done with great diligence and care. Not a wine expert but all the wine had great flavor — 13 years ago
Okay, some explanation is in order. First of all, the wine is off-scale awesome. Absolutely beautiful fruit on the nose, balance throughout a lingering, elegant finish. Fantastic. The cork, on the other hand, was a disaster. This wine was stored on its side at 55 F upon receipt from the winery. I am absolutely certain that Justin does his due diligence in selecting corks, but something clearly was amiss with at least this cork from the 2007 Heartstone. This is just a word of caution: if you have this in your cellar, the wine is awesome. Just be careful with the cork! — 6 years ago

I have problems with Colgin corks too, anything over 10 years has been shredded.Okay trying to not think of the family, of the year..and all that goes into that...I will first do WSET 3 diligence:
Appearance: clear medium lemon yellowish with medium plus tears.
On the nose: clean, medium (+) intensity citrus with a hint of salty soul. This wine is fully developed.
Palate: dry, medium acidity, medium (+) body, flavor intensity medium, I get lemon, lime, orange blossom water, some salinity, some soil and shell and pineapple (some of it, like a quarter candied). Alcohol?i guessed around 12 and it is...12.5!!! I guess I am learning my shit y'all. The finish: surprising! The first moment you think zero then boom! Stone fruits, wet rocks and happy people splashing in streams caresses your tongue. A great wine (in WSET terms Very Good) that is ready to drink for serious glad I got this now...I was intrigued with Matthiasson by both "How to Love Wine" by Eric Asimov and by seeing Matthiasson in Somm: Into the Bottle. And this was not a disappointment. Now I only dream of visiting them. — 10 years ago

Hype, Hype, Hype - brilliant wine from a difficult year that shows however what is possible if one works with devotion and diligence — 7 years ago
We were given this Chinon by our friend Igor and I thought it would be fun to try it tonight. This bottle is still quite young being a 2011 vintage but is already developing nicely. The color is a deep dark red, almost opaque. The nose has wonderful dark fruits and some vegetal notes such as green peppers. There is acidity to balance the high alcohol content so it doesn't come across as too powerful. The plums and dark berries combine with the earthy flavors quite well. The finish is medium. — 11 years ago
