Every year the pop and pour drinkability of this blend gets better! This year the blend is 60% Mourvedere 25% Grenache and 15% Syrah. My appreciation for the less common primary grape varietals has escalated by Monte de Oro’s wise blending and aging techniques. The nose is slightly shy. The palate is a pleasantly unique balanced combination of fruit and earthy components - with a touch of lingering spice. A near perfect balance of juicy acidity and soft tannins that makes this approachable for most. — 3 months ago

Excellent pop and pour drinkability with bold and complex fruit and spice full bodied flavor. Enjoyed on a warm early spring evening on the patio. — 2 months ago
excellent old world expression. 12% abv. very Spanish — 4 months ago
The nose bursts and fills the room with strawberry and spiced dark cherry aroma. The palace pops with a dense fruit forward and mild spiciness. I would have thought it was primarily a Zinfandel but the label says no - it only has Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The finish is moderately long and well balanced. I lean towards more earthy old world earthy profiles and this is a much more new world fruit forward wine than I prefer. — 8 months ago
Wonderful nose. Velvety in the pallet with a nice finish. Not a big Pinot Noir person, but this is great. Enjoying it with fish and shrimp at Roy’s in Maui. — 2 months ago

This wine tastes fantastic right now, but I agree with WS’s assessment that it could benefit from years in the bottle. Purchased on sale, $35, a steal.
WS: 94. This is broad and evokes plum, cherry, earth and iron aromas and flavors, picking up a salty taste while evolving on the palate. Supple in texture and nicely balanced, this is driven by lively acidity, with a light grip of tannins on the extensive finish. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best from 2026 through 2042. 22,000 cases made, 10,000 cases imported.
