Deep, dark ruby coloration. On the nose, cocoa powder, spice, prune, cherry, oak and wine cave. On the palate, medium to full body, cherry, strawberry, leather, chocolate and a long finish dominated by chocolate notes. Still exhibiting strong tannins. $40 @ total wine — 7 months ago
Very nice and crisp - but nothing that popped for me. I prefer reds so I’m biased. — 4 years ago
Never tried it but great with spicy food. Needs a lot of time to get air/decant. But quite nice light and a little fruity. — 17 days ago
Tasty white wine made with Falanghina grapes from the Campania region. Makes for great sipping in the spring and summer. Pairs well with with a variety of foods including Asian, poultry and of course pasta. Drank June 2025 — 4 months ago
Donnachiara Taurasi 2020
Taurasi DOCG, Campania, Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
Made from 100% Aglianico grapes, this Taurasi is a classic expression of Campania’s most noble red. Known as the “Barolo of the South,” it undergoes a 15-day maceration on the skins, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in French barriques (12 months), with another 24 months in bottle before release.
Aromas & Flavors
Intensely aromatic with blackberry, plum, cherry, cacao, and roasted coffee. On the palate: bone-dry, full-bodied, and warm, showing firm tannins, layered dark fruits, and an elegant structure with long persistence.
Mouthfeel
Structured and powerful, yet balanced. Rich tannins, dry finish, and remarkable depth that underline its long aging potential.
Winemaking Notes
Traditional hand-harvested Aglianico grapes, carefully vinified and matured. The barrique aging adds polish and subtle complexity while keeping the robust Taurasi soul intact.
Food Pairing
Perfect with hearty dishes: pasta with rich ragù, grilled steaks, game meats, and long-aged cheeses.
Verdict
A bold, structured, and age-worthy Taurasi with elegance and intensity. Built to age, but already showing its class in the glass. 🍷🔥

Donnachiara – Fiano di Avellino “Empatia” 2022
Campania, Italy 🇮🇹 – DOCG
Overview
Empatia translates to empathy in Italian — a name chosen to reflect Donnachiara’s philosophy of making a wine that connects deeply with both terroir and drinker. As an elevated expression of Fiano, it’s crafted from select vineyards and offers more body and aromatic depth than their classic bottling. A modern take on one of Campania’s most historic grapes.
Aromas & Flavors
Elegant layers of honeysuckle, pear, and golden apple with hints of hazelnut, chamomile, and a touch of honeyed citrus. The nose feels expansive yet refined, showing the grape’s full complexity.
Mouthfeel
Rich yet fresh, with a medium-plus body and lively acidity. The texture is slightly waxy, adding depth, while the finish is long and mineral-driven with subtle almond notes.
Food Pairing
Perfect with seafood risotto, grilled swordfish, aged cheeses, or herb-infused chicken. Also shines with Mediterranean vegetarian dishes like eggplant parmigiana or zucchini blossoms.
Verdict
A thoughtful, elegant Fiano that embodies its name — Empatia. It bridges heritage and modern precision, connecting emotion with flavor in every sip. Beautiful now, but capable of rewarding cellaring for another 3–5 years. Cheers! — 12 days ago
