This small Calistoga producer falls largely under the radar. I am thankful. The 12 vintage brings such fruit. However, this 12 Sisters rides the fence of 12 & 13. Shows dark currents, concreted mouthfeel in addition to its ripe, rich opulence.

The nose ascends with rich dark, purple, blue fruits, dark spice, violets framed in lavender for days.

The palate is ripe, ruby, lush, concentrated fruits of; blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, boysenberries, very dark cherries, creamy raspberries, in & out strawberries & blueberries. Big, heated, dark spice-box, round, meaty, sweet tannins cigar ash, led pencil, tarriness, anise, moist, fresh tobacco, black licorice & cola, dark, nutmeg, cinnamon stick, vanilla, rich soil w/ dry leaves, dry, crush rocks/limestone, dry herbs-bay leaves, sage, parsley, notes of eucalyptus bark shavings, tree bark w/ hints of sap, touch of black sandalwood to barrel shavings, pepper, moist, volcanic clay, fresh & withering; dark, purple, red, blue floral bouquet framed in violets & lavender, excellent acidity with a lush, rich, big, round & meaty structure, still shows great tension, well balanced with endless polish & finish. 10 years of life ahead…properly stored. Wine post 4,600.

No notes. Silky white flower palate, medium bodied, mineral core. Saludos Armenia!! Paired beautifully with spicy white bean stew with Harissa & jalepeno. Was inspired after watching Somm 4, which documents an Armenian iconoclast fighting the odds to revive his native wine culture. — 9 months ago

1 hour decant(decent chunky/cloudy sediment). A gorgeous dark murky purplish magenta color. On the nose: some dark cherry/blueberry, forest floor, chocolate mint, cedar. Taste: velvety, creamy, rich mouthcoating wine with a little dark cherry, earth, leather, crushed stone, and a tar/cedar long finish. Better place 2 years ago, not sure more time will do anything so drink em up — 2 years ago

Light ruby color with a garnet rim. Bright aromas of red berry fruit and a pleasant funkiness. Flavors of red cherry and plum with hints of black pepper, ash and minerals. Medium body and finish with well balanced acidity and alcohol. Smooth tannins. Underrated varietal. — 10 months ago

Pop and pour. A majestic magenta color with bricking. On the nose: port type nose with dark fruit, musky earth, worn leather, black olives, and minty menthol. Taste: blackberry, woodsy, smoke, graphite, dark chocolate, and a peppery astringent tar medium plus finish. Not the best showing of aged Cali cab, and don't think it will improve, so drink em if you got em. Still enjoyed it tonight. — a year ago
