Walker's Santa Cruz Mountains Nebbiolo 2017

Lots of cherry in the fragrance and it comes through on the palate with a bit of leather. Tannins not as intense as I was expecting perhaps because it is 3+ years old. Delightful. May 2021. — 5 years ago

Estate Grown Rapley Trail Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

I was not impressed but that’s because of being partial to Oregon Pinot. — 8 years ago

Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Franc 2013

Black cherry, a little tarragon, black pepper spice and black tea. Cab franc’s usual funkiness is restrained here. — 9 years ago

Estate Grown Razorback Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

In a blind tasting, I might have mistaken the delicate lightness for Oregon. Nice acid and tannin on the finish. Elegant. — 9 years ago

Estate Grown Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay 2021

One of my go-to California Chards. All the hallmarks I like. Oak notes of vanilla, butterscotch, and brioche toast, but balanced by high acid and minerality. The best of both worlds. — 3 months ago

I haven’t tried that one. I’ve had mindego ridge from a few other producers and I loved them all.

Estate Grown Damiana Vineyard Chardonnay 2013

13’ Thomas Fogarty Damiana Vineyard Chardonnay.

TASTING NOTES ( From the Winery)
Always our most opulent Chardonnay, Damiana has vivid fruit and buttressed by intense natural acidity. Power and grace.

Orange zest, lemon/lime, hard butterscotch candy, soft creaminess to it. A splash of acid. Needs a 30/ 45 minute decanting. It’s still felt slightly short of what it will be!!

There’s no doubt this will taste better in a year. This is the current release. Will age nicely for another 8/10 years.

Carbonica Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah 2015

Carbonica Syrah. Very expressive nose of allspice and brambles. A little green. Medium to light bodied. Fascinating (and excellent) application of carbonic maceration to Syrah. — 9 years ago

James Thomas's Block Rapley Trail Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

14' Very small production. Wait two years before opening it. I tried over a dozen of these wines & this was one of three I recommend. This could be something quite special with a little patience. Loved it! -at Thomas Fogarty Winery — 9 years ago
