Georgian food night - for me cuisine calls for oxidative wines given the local style & winemaking and LdH Todonia blanco fit the bill perfectly. Awkward on pop n pour, came around by the evening. Brilliant copper gold, beeswax-oxidative-walnut accord. Roasted pear. Buttressing lemony acidity. The producer of this lovely wine likens this ancient Georgian variety to sauvignon blanc. While this did have similar aromas of grass and lemon pith, as well as tropical fruit notes on the palate, I found this to be softer, and less tangy, than sauv blanc.
